A REMINDER:
The PTA is collecting cards, letters and donations to offer encouragement and tangible support to Mrs. Gjerde given the challenging circumstances she, her husband and their daughter have confronted for many months.  If you or someone in your family is interested in offering a written note of support and/or a financial contribution please send in your card, correspondence and/or check in an envelope marked "PTA - Mrs. Gjerde" before May 5th to the front office or in your child's backpack.  A "Mrs. Gjerde Donation Jar" will also be set up at the Spring Fling on May 3rd for last minute donations.

Staff Appreciation Week is May 5-9!
Thanks to CES staff for helping our children grow!

CES Families,
Staff Appreciation Week is May 5-9 and we want to make sure all teachers and staff at Clarksville Elementary School know how grateful we are for their efforts. The PTA has planned things for each day of the week.

On Monday, the PTA will be giving staff a cougar paw window cling as a small token of our appreciation. Here's how each student can help with the other days of the week:
  • Tuesday, May 6--Flowers
Bring in flowers for your teacher, teacher's aide, or anyone else you'd like to thank.
  • Wednesday, May 7--Sweets
Bring in something sweet or something you know is his/her favorite treat.
  • Thursday, May 8--School Supplies
Bring in a small school supply that your teacher can use in the classroom, such as post it notes, a colorful pen, or stationery.
  • Friday, May 9--Notes
Write a note or draw a picture for your teacher that shows them how much you appreciate them.
We encourage students to participate, and if they'd like, to extend their efforts to other staff that they see regularly.  If you have questions, please contact Maris Vanasse at RMSCSV@aol.com or Julie Graham at juliegraham5@comcast.net.  Thanks!
Stop by the Cafeteria to see the 5th Grade Gift!

We are proud to say that the 5th Grade Tile Quilt is hanging in cafeteria!

Thanks to a wonderful and hard working committee, Mrs. Van Eseltine, the 5th grade students, and a Dayton Oaks granddad who donated the Plexiglas and frame (as well as Mr. George Lesznar who assisted with the hanging), the class has decorated the cafeteria with a beautiful piece of art.

Although there are some minor finishing touches that will be taken care of in the next few weeks, we are thrilled that the "Favorite CES Memories" tile quilt is complete and will be enjoyed for years to come!

A big thank you to Ellen Kaplan, Risa Snyder, Liz Tenaglia and Diane Borucki for their efforts on this project.  Also, we appreciated the support of all of the 5th grade teachers and the administration during the project planning.

The 5th Grade Committee still has several projects ahead of us. These include the community service project, breakfast, picnic and Moving On Ceremony to name a few.  However, funds permitting, the class would like to present a gift to the Technology Department as well.

We will keep you posted on upcoming events in the weeks to come!

Thanks so much,
The 5th Grade Planning Committee
Gerilyn Pats, Harriette Lesznar, Dana Hamer and Karen Seybold
